Sedgefield

Welcome to Sedgefield!

Sedgefield was primarily developed in the 1920s as a residential neighborhood. It was initially designed as a streetcar suburb, catering to the growing population of Charlotte at the time. Sedgefield Park, a public park within the neighborhood, was developed in the late 1930s as part of a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the Great Depression. The park's construction provided employment opportunities during that challenging time.

Like many other neighborhoods in Charlotte, Sedgefield experienced significant growth after World War II. This growth resulted in the addition of more homes and further development of the community. The streets are lined with historic homes, many of which date back to the 1920s and 1930s, and feature a variety of architectural styles, including Colonial Revival, Bungalow, and Craftsman. These homes, many of which have been beautifully preserved, give the neighborhood a distinctive character and charm.

The area is adjacent to the popular South End neighborhood, known for its vibrant arts scene, breweries, restaurants, and shops. This close proximity allows Sedgefield residents easy access to the amenities and entertainment options of South End, making it great place to live.
